Doctor Malinovskaya advised eating turnips and persimmons to combat vitamin deficiency in winter

In an interview with Moslente, doctor Olga Malinovskaya named the products necessary to combat vitamin deficiency in winter. She encouraged eating turnips, dates, cabbage and tangerines when the weather is cold.

Vitamin deficiencies are common in winter. It is associated with a change in diet during the cold season. People prefer nutritious and fatty foods, and the amount of vegetables and fruits in the diet is reduced.

“In winter, many people experience depression, reduced performance and severe drowsiness. Bad outdoor weather and short daylight contribute to this. Vitamin deficiencies increase these feelings. Vitamin deficiency can be accompanied by external symptoms: for example, due to vitamin A, E and B deficiency, the skin on the hands and lips begins to dry out and crack; it suffers from wind and cold in winter,” said the specialist.

Malinovskaya added that vitamins contain not only vegetables, fruits and berries, which are familiar to the summer diet, but their cost will also be very high in winter. Seasonal autumn-winter snacks can also be healthy, but it’s important to eat at least 400 grams a day.

For example, sauerkraut is rich in B vitamins, vitamins C and K, and also contains probiotics that are beneficial to the intestinal microbiome, which depend on a person’s health, well-being and mood.

Turnips contain vitamin C and B vitamins, as well as iron, potassium, calcium, and phosphorus. Persimmons are a source of vitamins B, PR and K. This berry can be eaten fresh as a dessert, added to salads, or used as a topping for baking or cooking meat. Mandarins are rich in vitamin C, as well as vitamins A, PP and E. Not only the flesh is useful, but also the tangerine peel, which contains flavonoids.
