A rating of destinations for holidays from Moscow has been compiled

Analysts have compiled a list of destinations where it is best to go from Moscow for the New Year holidays. RT has reviewed the results of the study.

First of all, experts advised us to go to Kolomna.

“Kolomna is famous for its marshmallow, which is made here by hand according to an old recipe. The Kolomna Pastila Museum will tell you about the secrets of making a dessert and even have a tasting session. In winter, you can try marshmallow with aromatic tea or non-alcoholic mulled wine at the Christmas market: it is usually held on Zhitnaya Square,” Tutu.ru specialists said.

In addition, they noted that Sergiev Posad is an excellent choice for the New Year holidays: the city is located near Moscow and offers tourists a lot of winter activities.

“Animal lovers and outdoor enthusiasts can visit the Husky House, a kennel that offers dog sledding. You can go here even with children: there are small sleds for young guests. The season has recently opened at the Loza resort in the village of Sitniki, Sergiyevo-Posadsky District. There are several tracks of different lengths and levels of difficulty, including for beginners,” the service explained.

In addition, experts named Dmitrov one of the main ski resorts in the Moscow region.

“The local tracks are well equipped and are suitable for skiing for both beginners and experienced athletes. A 20-minute drive from the city is the Volen resort, where there are more than 15 slopes of varying difficulty levels, a sauna complex and a spa. In 2023, the Sorochany resort was recognized as the best in the Central Federal District as part of the “Mountains of Russia” award. If you want something more affordable, Dmitrov has a Winter Sports Center with illuminated ski slopes,” the company stressed.

They also recommended visiting Istra during the holidays.

“One of the city’s main attractions, the Istra Reservoir, turns into a favorite place for winter entertainment fans in winter: they ride snowmobiles and skates on the ice, and skiing along the coast. There is an ice rink in the Arena Istra Sports Complex. There are also several ski resorts nearby that are suitable even for beginners, such as Manikhino and Zorino. For those who don’t like skiing, there are tubing and sledges,” the experts added.

Serpukhov was another suitable destination.

“It is famous for its ancient monasteries and temples. The Vysotsky and Vladychny monasteries contain lists of the miraculous icon “The Inexhaustible Chalice”, to which pilgrims from all over the country flock. There is a lot of winter fun here. Near Serpukhov, there is a unique Prioksko-Terrasny Nature Reserve, which is home to rare species of animals and birds. Although the reserve is open all year round, it is best to come here in winter: bison live here, which do not hide among the trees during the cold season, but go to the feeders and let themselves be thoroughly examined,” the organization concluded.
